As a result of travel agent and consumer feedback over the summer, the company has already withdrawn 42 properties that were not meeting its high standards’, with the result that more than 85% of the hotels it sells are now four- or five-star.

|

Accommodation-only supplier youtravel.com has ditched 42 properties in its first year of trading to target a more upmarket product. The bed bank, which enters its second year of trading next month, said it withdrew the hotels from its portfolio for not meeting quality standards. More than 85% of its hotels are now four or five-star.

Youtravel.com marks first birthday with agent trip

Bed bank Youtravel.com is hosting its first VIP agent trip as it marks the company's first anniversary. The start-up accommodation-only specialist, founded on October 28 last year, is taking 10 agents to the Sheraton hotel in Sharm el-Sheikh for a four-day trip to foster relationships with key trade partners.

Stuart Jackson, managing director of Cosmos-owned somewhere2stay, said: "You can't say one day that you're going to be the principal and then be one overnight". It takes at least six months to audit all hotels.
